What changes when you truly know who you are?

In this episode of Rediscovering Faith, we explore 1 Peter 2:9 and the connection between identity and the way we live. Peter reminds believers that they are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and God’s special possession—called out of darkness and into his wonderful light.

These identities are not achievements we earn. They are gifts we receive through Jesus Christ. Yet receiving our identity from God is about more than feeling secure or valued. God tells us who we are so that our lives can reveal who he is.

When our identity rests in success, approval, or recognition, every failure becomes a threat. But when we know that we belong to God, we can admit when we are wrong, serve without being noticed, love those who cannot repay us, and pursue holiness without trying to earn God’s acceptance.

Christian obedience is not an anxious attempt to manufacture an identity. It is the daily practice of living from the identity God has already given us through Christ.

You don’t find yourself—you receive who God says you are. And when you know who you are, you begin to live differently.
